Two exiled priests found the Bureau de la communauté haïtienne in Montreal
Haitian
On 12 November 1972 Paul Déjean and Karl Lévêque, both Haitian clergy in exile, founded what was first called the Bureau de la communauté chrétienne des Haïtiens de Montréal. It became the main reception and advocacy centre for Haitians arriving in Montreal, and it still operates, working with low-income families.
