Toussaint’s army under Dessalines reaches Chéridan on the way to Grand-Goâve
Haitian
On 30 April 1800, the army of Toussaint-Louverture, commanded by Dessalines, marching from Léogane against the Rigaudins at Grand-Goâve, reached this habitation. On 1 May it continued its march and halted, despite the enemy’s fire, on a small morne from which it discovered in the plain the bourg of Grand-Goâve, built at the edge of the sea.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Chéridan.
