The Haitian Red Cross is founded in Port-au-Prince

Haitian

The Croix-Rouge Haïtienne was founded on 29 May 1932, in a ceremony held under the honorary presidency of the head of state, Sténio Vincent. The board of directors approved that day was chaired by Dr. Rudolph Charmant, the society’s first president. The statutes adopted on 2 June 1932 set up a consultative council of 100 members whose job was to elect a five-year administrative council. The society joined the international federation on 15 June 1935 and was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross on 19 September 1935. Its headquarters are in Port-au-Prince.
