The fort of Santiago is taken from President Heureaux’s partisans
Haitian
On 19 February 1889, the fort of Santiago was taken from the partisans of President Heureaux by the friends of General Moya, vice president. This fort is the most important position of the Cibao and of the country. The rebels had seized it by surprise, with the intention of holding it until General Moya had sent them arms and munitions.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SANTIAGO de los CABALLEROS.
