Salomon the elder raises revolt at Cholette against Geffrard
Haitian
On 1 May 1862, General Salomon the elder, brother of the president of that name, then a political exile, with a few friends and relatives raised the standard of revolt on this habitation against President Geffrard. The conspirators had to lay down their arms and surrender at discretion, the rural population not having adhered to this movement. Adjutant General Cazeau was its leader. Generals Gilles Azor, Apollon, Emile Pierre, an ex-judge, Généus Sambour and Bellevue Samedi were implicated in this affair. This habitation then belonged to General Cazeau, who formed patrols there to recruit the country people.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Cholette ou Chollais.
