Sailors of the warship Dessalines massacred at Lapierre
Haitian
On 24 November 1888 at 2 1/2 o’clock in the afternoon, during the insurrection of the North against the authority of the Chief of the Executive Power F. D. Légitime, some sailors of the warship Dessalines went ashore at Lapierre to take on water; they were surprised and massacred by armed men who were lying in wait for them in the woods. The garrison of the Dessalines landed and burned all the huts. The Dessalines had 1 dead, 1 wounded and 3 prisoners.
Rouzier tells this under the entry LAPIERRE.
