Raymond Chassagne dies in Canada at eighty-nine

Haitian

Raymond Chassagne died in Canada on 27 May 2013, aged eighty-nine. He had returned to Haiti in 1979 after years teaching letters in Quebec, and went back again later. Jail under Duvalier, then exile, then return, then exile: the shape of a Haitian writer’s century.
