Haitian
Wébert Sicot was born in Port-au-Prince on 14 April 1930, one of six children of Dormélia Casimir, a trader and a vodouisant. He played flute, guitar, trumpet, drum, bass, trombone and several saxophones. He stood at Nemours Jean-Baptiste’s side on the night compas direct was born, then broke away and founded cadence rampa, and the rivalry between them divided Haitian dance floors for a decade. He died in 1985, the same year as Nemours.
