Radio journalist Brignol Lindor is hacked to death at Petit-Goâve

Haitian

Brignol Lindor was born on 4 November 1970. He was a lawyer, a teacher, and news director at Radio Echo 2000 in Petit-Goave, and he put opposition voices on the air. Days before his death a local Lavalas official publicly called for zero tolerance against him. On 3 December 2001 a mob stoned him and cut him down with machetes in the street. He was thirty-one. Two men were eventually convicted years later; most of those named were never tried.
