Louis Moreau-Lislet, born at Dondon, dies in New Orleans
Haitian
Louis Moreau-Lislet was born at Dondon in Saint-Domingue on 7 October 1766. The revolution drove him out and he ended up in Louisiana. He served as attorney general of the Territory of Orleans. With James Brown and Edward Livingston he drafted the Louisiana Civil Code, which is why Louisiana law still does not look like the law of any other American state. He died in New Orleans on 3 December 1832.
