Prospère Pierre-Louis of Saint Soleil is born at Bainet

Prospère Pierre-Louis was born at Bainet, near Jacmel, on 12 October 1947. He became a central figure of the Saint Soleil movement, painting the lwa. He was the son of an oungan and helped his father prepare ceremonies as a child. He had no formal schooling and taught himself the drums and the violin. He died in November 1997.
