Adélina Lévêque, the only empress Haiti has had, dies

Adélina Lévêque died on 12 October 1878. Born Elisabeth Anne Justine Lévêque on 26 July 1820, she was empress of Haiti from 1849 to 1859 as the wife of Faustin Soulouque. The empire ended with his overthrow in 1859.
