Gérard Pierre-Charles, economist of the opposition, dies in Havana

Gérard Pierre-Charles died in Cuba on 10 October 2004, aged sixty-eight. Born at Jacmel on 18 December 1935, he was an economist, a sociologist and an author, and a former leader of the Unified Party of Haitian Communists. He studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He was married to the historian Suzy Castor.
