Pontifical mass for the coronation of Our Lady of Altagracia

15 August! Santo-Domingo awakens to the sound of the bells of all the churches and to the voice of the cannon. At 9 o’clock in the morning the Clergy, the Lords Vosconcellos, archbishop of Damiette, extraordinary delegate of His Holiness Pius XI, Rincon de Gonzalès, archbishop of Caracas (Venezuela), F. M. Kersuzan, bishop of Cap-Haitien, Vuylsteke, bishop of Curaçao, Virili, of the Congregation of Rites, the archbishop of Santo-Domingo, and the vicar general of the bishop of Porto-Rico make their solemn entry into the Cathedral. The civil and military authorities, the diplomatic and judicial bodies, and distinguished guests occupy part of the great nave. After the chanting of Terce, the pontifical mass is celebrated by Mgr Vosconcellos, delegate of the Sovereign Pontiff, and sung to music by a choir of ladies and young girls. At the elevation, salvos of artillery. At the end of the mass, toward noon, papal blessing.
