Poet and novelist Josaphat-Robert Large dies in New York

Josaphat-Robert Large died in New York City on 28 October 2017, aged seventy-four. Born at Jérémie on 15 November 1942, he wrote poetry, fiction and art criticism in French and in Kreyòl. He left Haiti in 1963 after being arrested during a student strike against Duvalier. His novel Les terres entourées de larmes won the Prix littéraire des Caraïbes in 2003.
