Pétion abandons the Miragoâne bridge; Rigaud breaks through

Haitian

On 17 May, Pétion perceived that he had been outflanked, and that he might be attacked from behind by the whole army of the North. After spiking his cannon, he abandoned the Bridge, which Clerveaux seized immediately after his departure. Rigaud, for his part, raised his headquarters and cut a way through the enemy to reach the little savanna of Miragoane. He entered Miragoâne, which he abandoned the same day.

Rouzier tells this under the entry PONT de MIRAGOANE [le].
