Montpoint declares General Jascine an outlaw
Haitian
On 15 March 1878, General Montpoint the younger, commanding the arrondissement of le Cap, being at the headquarters of the Tannerie, declared General Jascine an outlaw, and authorized every citizen to run him down. This Jascine had set himself in rebellion against authority, and had raised ramparts at the Carrefour Jean Bernard. He acted in concert with Gélus Bienaimé (See Limonade and Louis Tanis at Port-au-Prince.) The cries of the sedition were: Down with the Constitution of 1867. Down with President Boisrond Canal, and Long live paper money.
Rouzier tells this under the entry TANNERIE (la).
