Boisrond-Canal returns and the insurgents flee to the American consulate
Haitian
On 14 March 1878, General Louis Tanis, commander of the department of the West, taking advantage of the absence of President Boisrond-Canal, who was visiting the South, seized Fort National and rose in rebellion against the government and against the Bazelaisistes. On the 18th, the head of State arrives at Port-au-Prince; the insurgents in the fort take flight and take refuge in the American consulate at Turgeau. The population of Port-au-Prince, encamped at Fort Eveillard, had been able to hold back the rebels until the arrival of the President of Haiti.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Fort National.
