Monpoint charges the remnants of Dugua’s division from Dame Cité

Haitian

On 11 March 1802, Monpoint, a Black man, commanding the 2nd squadron of Toussaint-Louverture’s honor guard, dashed from the Dame Cité range where he was quartered, charged with fury the remnants of the Dugua division, which had just been annihilated before the Crête-à-Pierrot, and drove back onto the Delaunay habitation a great number of French grenadiers, almost all of whom were killed by saber blows, while Morisset charged them from the opposite side.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Dame Cité.
