Messeroux gives the signal for insurrection against Dessalines at the Karata

To the east of this town lies the Karata, a position admirably defended in 1803 by the indigènes against the French troops, and where, on 8 October 1806, Messeroux gave the signal for the insurrection against Dessalines.
