Haitian
Marie-Madeleine Lachenais died in exile in Jamaica on 22 July 1843. She was the companion and political confidante of Alexandre Pétion, and then of Jean-Pierre Boyer, and was long understood to be an informal adviser at the centre of the Haitian republic. She went into exile when Boyer was overthrown earlier that year, and died there within months.
