Jacques Roche is found murdered after four days in his kidnappers’ hands

The poet and journalist Jacques Roche was found dead on 14 July 2005, aged forty-four. He wrote on culture for the daily Le Matin and hosted a television programme. He was seized in Port-au-Prince on 10 July, tortured and shot; his body was recovered four days later. Rodney Saint-Éloi later wrote a book-length poem addressed to him.
