Liliane Pierre-Paul, voice of Jounal 4e on Radio Kiskeya, dies

Liliane Pierre-Paul died on 31 July 2023 of a sudden heart attack, at home, getting ready to leave and present the four o’clock news. She was born in Jeremie on 16 June 1953. She broadcast in Kreyol, which she called the language of the people, and in 1994 she founded Radio Kiskeya with Sony Bastien and Marvel Dandin. Her Jounal 4e became the bulletin Haitians set their afternoon by. The International Women’s Media Foundation gave her a Courage in Journalism Award in 1990. In 2016 President Michel Martelly released a carnival meringue mocking her sexually; she kept broadcasting.
