Léon Laleau, poet of the divided self, dies at eighty-seven

Léon Laleau died on 7 September 1979. He was born in Port-au-Prince on 3 August 1892. He was a writer, a politician and a diplomat, and he served as Foreign Minister and as Minister of National Education. His postings took him to Rome, London, Paris, Santiago and Lima. He won the Edgar Allan Poe Prize in 1962.
