Jean-Fernand Brierre is born, and will write Haiti’s letter to Black America

Jean-Fernand Brierre was born at Jérémie in September 1909. Poet, playwright and diplomat, he wrote “Black Soul” and the poem addressed to Jacques Roumain after his death. He served as Haiti’s ambassador to Argentina and spent years in exile in Senegal under Senghor. Sources differ on the day: Wikidata gives 23 September, English Wikipedia the 28th.
