Insurrection against Dessalines begins at Port-Salut
Haitian
It was at Port-Salut that the insurrection against Dessalines began, on 8 October 1806, with the arrest of General Moreau carried out by some thirty inhabitants, at whose head had placed himself the courageous citizen Messeroux, then justice of the peace of this commune. The outcome of this revolt brought about the fall and death of the emperor at Pont-Rouge.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PORS SALUT (le).
