Government troops take fort Guibert

Haitian

During the insurrection of the Northerners in 1888 and 1889, the government of General F. D. Légitime established its advance post at Williamson, and the rebels established theirs at Mont-Rouis. On 8 January 1889 the government troops marched from Williamson, by the road of Leroux, on Fort Guibert, held by the rebels, and took it after a combat of one hour fought at Carrefour Robert. In the first days of July 1889 the Legitimists were driven back by the Northerners of the Williamson post; from that moment l’Arcahaie was evacuated by the forces of Dardignac, which were directed on Saltrou as soon as they arrived at Port-au-Prince.

Rouzier tells this under the entry WILLIAMSON.
