Fire at Chabaud starts the general insurrection
Haitian
On 14 August 1791, a fire broke out on this habitation to inaugurate the general insurrection of the enslaved. Several hommes de couleur were massacred at the Cap, being accused by the colonists of being the authors of the revolt of the Blacks, of which Boukman, one of them, was the leader.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Chabaud.
