Evains Weche, who wrote the novel of Port-au-Prince, is born at Corail

Evains Weche was born at Corail in the Grand’Anse on this day. He worked as a librarian at the Bibliotheque Justin Lherisson in Carrefour, then went home to the Grand’Anse to run reading and writing workshops at the Centre Numa-Drouin and the Alliance Francaise of Jeremie, carrying mobile book clinics out to the rural sections. Gary Victor found him in a writing workshop and published two of his stories in 2012. In 2013 he won the Prix Henri Deschamps for Le Trou du Voyeur. His first novel, Les Brasseurs de la ville, came out in 2014 and is read as the novel of Port-au-Prince.
