Emerante de Pradines is born, who carried Haitian folklore to the world

Emerante de Pradines was born on 24 September 1918, daughter of the troubadour Auguste de Pradines. She was a singer, a dancer, a folklorist, a choreographer, a stage actress and an anthropologist, and she put Haitian traditional music and dance in front of audiences who had never heard either. She is the mother of the musician Richard Morse, of RAM. She died weeks short of her hundredth birthday.
