Domingue’s government sends to arrest three generals

Haitian

General Boisrond Canal took refuge, on 3 May 1875, in the house of the American consul E. D. Basset, at Turgeau: on the eve of the festival of Agriculture, the government of President Domingue had sent to arrest Generals Pierre Momplaisir Pierre, Brice and Boisrond Canal. The first two were in town; they defended themselves and perished in the struggle. Boisrond Canal was on his habitation Frères; he resisted the armed force sent against him, and took to the woods. Having gone into exile, he returned at the fall of Domingue and was named president of Haiti.

Rouzier tells this under the entry TURGEAU.
