Dessalines enters Azua and leaves Juan Ximenès in command
Haitian
On 1 March 1805 Dessalines, going to besiege Santo Domingo, entered Azua; he entrusted the command of this place to a Spanish officer, Juan Ximenès, who had gone over to the Haitians. The next day the army resumed its march; he halted at the Ocoa River.
Rouzier tells this under the entry AZUA de COMPOSTELA.
