Death of General Nicolas Geffrard at Les Cayes

In 1804 the Haitians built on the heights of the Platons, after the plan of the engineer Morancy, a man of color, a citadel whose works Nicolas Geffrard directed. This citadel has an underground barracks sheltered from bombs. General Nicolas Geffrard, who died at the Cayes on 30 May 1806, was buried there.
