Daniel Fignolé takes National Education in Estimé’s first cabinet

Haitian

On 19 August 1946, weeks after the revolution that brought Dumarsais Estimé to power, Daniel Fignolé became minister of National Education and Public Health. He was the most popular man in Port-au-Prince and could fill its streets at a word. He lasted ten weeks: on 25 October the whole cabinet resigned in order to force him out, and Jean Price-Mars took the portfolio the next day.
