Daniel Fignolé dies months after coming home from twenty-nine years away

Daniel Fignolé died on 27 August 1986. Born at Pestel on 11 November 1913, he founded the Mouvement Ouvrier Paysan and organised the working people of Port-au-Prince, who could fill the streets at his word. He was provisional head of state for nineteen days in 1957 before the army removed him and put him on a boat. He returned in 1986, after Jean-Claude Duvalier fell, and died within months of getting home.
