COMMISSION as Major of the free nègres for the man named THOMANY, nègre

THE Marquis de Sorel, etc.

The Employment of Major of the Company of free nègres of the dependency of the Cap having been vacant for a long time, and it being necessary to provide a capable person to perform the said functions, we have chosen and commissioned, and do choose and commission, as Major of the free nègres the man named Antoine Thomany, who shall enjoy the exemptions attached to the said Office. We command the sieur de Pardieu, Colonel of the Militia, and all other Officers, to recognize, and cause to be recognized, the said Thomany in his said capacity of Major of free nègres. GIVEN at the Cap, etc. Signed the Marquis DE SOREL. Registered at the Siège Royal of the Cap, the 27th of June 1721.

This is the same Thomany who was emancipated for a service rendered to the Colony.
