Borno Déléart retakes Marigot from Toussaint’s soldiers

Haitian

Borno Déléart, at the head of 600 men, took Marigot from Toussaint’s soldiers on 14 July; he maintains himself there with difficulty. Vigorously seconded by Magloire Ambroise, he repulsed every aggression on their part. Dessalines sent against him Colonel Henri Christophe. Déléart, assailed at the head of his 600 men by 2,000 men from the North, defended himself with rare intrepidity and repulsed them. Romain marched again against the bourg. After a heroic resistance, having lost two thirds of his people, Déléart abandoned the place and reached Jacmel, fighting as far as the gates of the town. Christophe lost 400 men.

Rouzier tells this under the entry MARIGOT.
