Beauvais meets the white militia of Grand-Fond at the Nérette habitation

Haitian

In 1791, the affranchis of the West had just organized themselves at Port-Républicain and on the habitation Diègue, when they learned that a squadron of the white militia, composed of the inhabitants of Grand-Fond, was coming down to Port-Républicain, headed by a white colonist named Jean-François Lespinasse. Beauvais at once went to meet them with 50 of his men; the two troops met at the Coupe (Pétion-ville), on the habitation Nérette, on 30 August (See: Nérette).

Rouzier tells this under the entry Grand-Fond.
