Beauvais and Lambert defeated white militia under Lespinasse in a cavalry fight at Nérette
Haitian
On 30 August 1791, Beauvais and Lambert, the leaders of the affranchis of the West, met there the white militia commanded by a white colonist named Jean Baptiste de Lespinasse. A cavalry engagement began there. The whites lost three men. Most of them wounded, they took flight. The surprise the whites felt at seeing themselves attacked by their affranchis, until then so humble before them, contributed not a little to their defeat.
Rouzier tells this under the entry NERETTE.
