Beaubrun Ardouin, who wrote eleven volumes of Haitian history, is born

Alexis Beaubrun Ardouin was born at Petit-Trou-de-Nippes on 30 October 1796. He was a journalist, a senator and a diplomat as well as a historian. His Études sur l’Histoire d’Haïti ran to eleven volumes across the 1850s and 1860s. He also wrote the first Haitian schoolbook, a geography of the island. He died in Port-au-Prince on 30 August 1865.
