Aubrant defeats Taillefer’s column in the fight between whites and freedmen at Port-au-Prince
Haitian
On 21 November 1791, during the fight between the whites and the affranchis at Port-au-Prince, Aubrant was descending from the Belair with three companies to fight Praloto and force him to retreat, when Major General Taillefer, at the head of a column of white troops, came to assail him from behind, after crossing the rue des Césars. Aubrant fell back, hurled himself furiously on the whites, routed them and pursued them as far as the church square, where Taillefer was killed. Aubrant then entrenched himself on the Belair. The next day he left it and went to the Croix-des-Bouquets.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Belair.
