Antonio Kébreau is born, the general who will hand Haiti to Duvalier

Antonio Thrasybule Kébreau was born on 11 November 1909 — the same day of the year as Daniel Fignolé, the man he would help depose. He chaired the Military Council and was provisional head of state from 14 June to 22 October 1957, between Fignolé’s rule and François Duvalier’s. Soldiers under his command massacred Fignolé’s supporters when they rioted. He presided over the September 1957 election that made Duvalier president. He died on 11 January 1963.
