Admiral Latouche Tréville silences Fort Sainte Claire
Haitian
At the landing of the French army at the Lamentin, on 5 February 1802, fort Ste. Claire fired on the squadron, which had moored along the reefs that separate the two roadsteads of Port-au Prince. Admiral Latouche Tréville, by the rapid fire of his broadsides, dismounted all the guns of the fortification, which was, in the twinkling of an eye, plowed up by the shot.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SAINTE CLAIR ou SAINT CLAIR.
