A flight from Cap-Haïtien falls into the cane fields, killing all twenty-one aboard

Tropical Airways Flight 1301, a Let L-410 bound from Cap-Haïtien to Port-de-Paix, crashed into a sugarcane field on the evening of 24 August 2003, less than ten minutes after take-off and about two kilometres from the airport. Nineteen passengers, nearly all Haitian, and two foreign crew were killed. The cargo door was seen open during take-off. Investigators blamed a stall at low altitude, full flaps and poor coordination in the cockpit.
