1767-Jan.-28: The theater in Cap-Français announced upcoming performances of “L’Avocat patelin,” a three-act comedy by M. Fagan, followed by the comic opera “La Rose.” For the following Sunday, the venue scheduled a second representation of the opéra-bouffon “Sancho-pança, Gouverneur dans l’Isle de Barataria.” This performance was to be accompanied by the grand pantomime ballet “Les Braconniers” and concluded with a grand ball. These theatrical productions remained a central pillar of urban social life for the city’s inhabitants.
