1767-Feb.-16: The King appointed M. Froger de l’Eguille as the new Lieutenant-General of the naval armies, filling the vacancy left by the death of the Count de Blenac. Froger de l’Eguille had previously served as a Squadron Leader and Commandant of the Navy at Rochefort. This high-level military appointment was critical for the management of the French Atlantic fleet and colonial defense. News of the new leadership was closely watched by Saint-Domingue’s administrative and maritime circles.
