1767-Feb.-16: The vessel La Mariette, commanded by Captain Rochet, arrived at the port of La Rochelle from the southern district of Les Cayes. This arrival completed another commercial cycle, delivering colonial goods from the southern peninsula to metropolitan French distributors. The continued activity of this trade route was vital for the expansion of the plantation economy in the Southern Province. Meticulous records of these movements allowed colonial merchants to track the global distribution of their sugar and coffee.
