Chapitre V: Des Obligations de l'Acheteur (On the Obligations of the Buyer)

L'acheteur étant troublé dans la jouissance, ou ayant sujet de craindre de l'être par une action en revendication ou hypothécaire, peut suspendre le payement, et ne l'effectuer qu'après que le vendeur aura fait cesser le trouble, ou donné caution, à moins qu'il ne soit stipulé que, nonobstant le trouble, l'acheteur payera.

Life lesson: If someone threatens to take the thing from you, you can hold back payment until the seller fixes the problem or posts security.
Notes: Buyer's right to suspend payment when threatened by third-party claims (revendication, hypothèque). Exception d'inexécution. Overridable by contract.
