Yellow fever kills French general Le Doyen at Cap-Francais

Jean-Denis Le Doyen was born at Liege in 1751 and made brigadier general of the French Revolution. On 29 October 1801 he was assigned to the army of Saint-Domingue, the expedition Bonaparte sent to break our generals and put the chains back on. He landed with Leclerc. On 16 May 1802 yellow fever killed him at Cap-Francais. He was one of thousands: the fever finished what our ancestors started, and by November Leclerc himself was dead of the same sickness.
