Trichet evacuates the Artibonite banks

Haitian

Haitians know little of Haiti: foreigners know it better than they do. A general of the army would be hard pressed to say, now that the memory of those events is distant, by what road Bergerac Trichet, surrounded by enemies, evacuating the banks of the Artibonite on 3 April 1809, made his way back to Port-au-Prince with his troops, and how, and on what occasion, Lys, setting out from la Crête-Brûlée on 12 June 1809, arrived before la Sourde.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Front matter.
